Artwork Specifications for Service in Rhode Island

Acceptable Media

 
  • USB Drives
  • CDs
 
  • PC Formatted Zip Disks
  • Email Attachments (Under 2 MB)
 
  • Floppy Disks
 

The Basics:

For all documents please send print ready PDFs or:
 
  • All page layout files
  • All linked image files (photos and other images that you place in your layout)
 
  • All TrueType Fonts used in your documents
  • Full color hard copy (the most current version)
 
These rules apply for ALL page layout programs.

Artwork

 
  • B&W Line Art: A high quality laser print or a 600-1200 dpi electronic file.
  • Color: A 300 dpi CMKY file. Scan original at anticipated output size or larger.
  • Grayscale: A 300 dpi grayscale file.
 
  • Save scanned images in .tif, .eps, .bmp or .jpg formats
  • Always scan your artwork at the anticipated output size or larger.
  • WE CANNOT ACCEPT WEB IMAGES. WEB RESOLUTION (72 dpi) IS TOO LOW
 
 

Supported Applications

 

Quark Xpress

  • Include all page layout files - .qxd
  • Include all support files - .tif or .eps
 

Adobe PageMaker

• Include all page layout files - .pm
• Include all support files - .tif or .eps (DO NOT EMBED IMAGES or FONTS)
 
 

Adobe Illustrator

• Save as .eps
• Include any placed images
• Change spot colors to CMYK for four-color jobs
• Create outlines on all text (this eliminates font issues)
 

Adobe Photoshop

  • Save as .eps or .tif
  • Scan original photos at anticipated output size or larger
  • Convert color files to CMYK mode
  • NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ART WITH SMALL TEXT
  • WE CANNOT WORK WITH WEB GRAPHICS.
 
 

Microsoft Publisher

  • DO NOT use Publisher clip art photos or Illustrations
  • Use Pack and Go for a commercial printer (under file menu)
 

Microsoft Word

  • Not recommended for complex printing jobs.
  • Supply all fonts and supply images independently
  • Do not use Microsoft clip art images
